We are flying in and out of Boston the first week of October. We want to see fall foliage and coastal scenery. We are going White Mountains but are torn between traveling up to Acadia or going to Cape Cod. We are outdoorsey people and tend to like National Parks but have never been to Nantucket/MV.
Second question is we have a pretty tight itinerary (7 nights). Is two nights enough in the White Mountains or should we plan on 3,
Thanks for your help!
New England - Maine coast or Cape Cod
If you are debating between Cape Cod and Acadia, I would definately tell you Acadia. I live in MA and have also lived in ME and Acadia has an lot of ';out doorsey'; things. The Cape is pretty but more of the summer place. Bar Harbor, Acadia Nat Park are wonderful lots of hicking and trails and the Ocean too. You can also get in the outlet store--(LL Bean) if you go towards ME. While you are in the white MTS make sure you take a gondola up one of the ski Mts to get a great peep of the colors. Cannon is a good one.
Enjoy your trip!! --- FYI if you are into different Salem MA has alot to see in October (Salem witch trials and haunted tours.) Great for a day and evening.

This is a very interesting topic for the New England (town), North Dakota forum!
