I%26#39;m getting ready to plan our annual motorcycle trip-14 days this year. I would like to travel in some states we haven%26#39;t previously explored %26amp; I need some advice! What is there to see and do in North Dakota along I-94? Is T. Roosevelt National Park something to see? We will travel east to west %26amp; cross over into Montana-then travel across the entire state of Montana into Idaho. I would plan a night or two in N. Dakota if there are some sights to see, as it may be the only time I travel in this state. Any %26amp; all suggestions are welcome. Thank you!

Are you taking 94 all the way across Montana too? Cause I would consider getting up to Highway 2 and going through Glacier Park as long as traveling all the way through Montana.
On your route through Eastern ND, it is not that thrilling. It is kind of pretty in Valley City and Jamestown area, and an albino buffalo to see in Jamestown.
I think Theodore Roosevelt park is very worth seeing. it is nice. Not crowded generally, and good wildlife opportunities (Buffalo, antelope, and lots of mustang horses). I would try to plan a night near Medora to enjoy it.
From there, I would cut up from Glendive to Wolfpoint on Highway 2 and go across Montana there.

Medora is a pretty little town and they have a beautiful house with a lovely story about a Marquis who moved here back in the day. We have some Lewis and Clark things around the Bismarck/Mandan area if that interests you at all. Jamestown has some buffalo stuff right off the 94, but generally the interstate isn%26#39;t the most exciting drive nor does it put in the best parts of ND. Fort Ransom by Lisbon is lovely if you%26#39;re into camping but that%26#39;s a detour of about 60 miles maybe. The little towns have great people and usually something unexpected so if you get a chance to stop in those, I would do it....and the pie in Tower City is pretty good (little town between Fargo and Valley City right off interstate). ;) I agree going up to 2 to Glacier is worth the visit.
Thank you both for the information! I have been researching how to best cover MT %26amp; I think I will take your advice about touring T.R. Park, staying in Medora and heading up to Hwy 2 to travel west to Glacier. We can take the interstate route on the way back from Idaho. izzyblizzy-Are the roads between Glendive to Wolfpoint safe for traveling on a motorcycle? Someone on my MT post said there are lots of dirt roads in the state-that%26#39;s why I%26#39;m asking. JACombs-thanks for the heads up on the pie. We%26#39;re always looking for fun places to stop, eat %26amp; meet people.
yes, the road up to Wolf Point should be fine. Two lane, but not gravel. It is a principal highway connecting 94 to Highway 2. And certainly won%26#39;t run into lots of traffic :)
Have fun!
Theodore Roosevelt National Park is definately worth seeing. If you%26#39;re heading up to Hwy. 2, you might consider taking US 85 north to the north unit of the park on your way.
Something a little bit different. There are some large sculptures along the interstate in North Dakota. In Jamestown a giant Buffalo, in Steele a large sandhill crane, in New Salem a giant holstien cow, and at exit 72 (Gladstone) a large geese sculpture. The geese sculpture is actually the first of 6 or 7 along the way south to Regent on the Enchanted Highway.

If nothing else it%26#39;s something to watch for as you drive across the prairie.
Jamestown is definitely worth a stop! We have an ';old-west'; town called the Frontier Village, a buffalo museum, TWO albino buffalo, and, as mentioned above, the World%26#39;s Largest Buffalo Monument. Admission to the Village is free, so it%26#39;s a good place to stop and stretch your legs, if nothing else! Oh, and Teddy Roosevelt National Park is beautiful.
